Azure Monitor - Logs Data Access Issues - Mitigated
Summary of Impact: Between at 23:15 UTC on 06 Jul 2023 and 09:00 UTC on 07 July 2023, customers using Azure Monitor may have experienced issues accessing logs, data gaps, and missed / latent alerts. Preliminary Root Cause: We determined a configuration issue triggered a bug, causing a significant unexpected increase in traffic, causing one of our backend services responsible for processing and storing logs to reach throughput limits. This caused the service's control plane to become unresponsive, leading to services becoming unable to retrieve authentication tokens. The resulting impact spread to multiple regions.Mitigation: We throttled heavy consumers and spun up additional infrastructure to process the incoming load, as well as the backlog of requests.Next Steps: We will follow up in 3 days with a preliminary Post Incident Report (PIR), which'll cover the main root cause and repair items. We'll follow that up 14 days later with a final PIR where we will share a deep dive into the...

Azure Services - West Europe - Investigating
Starting at 07:22 on 05 Jul 2023, Azure customers with resources in West Europe may experience packet drops and increase latency in application response. Requests timeouts may also be experienced. We are currently investigating traffic ingestion issues as the preliminary root cause. We continue collaborating with relevant teams to identify mitigation options. The next update will be provided in 60 minutes, or as events warrant.

Networking Issues - West Europe - Mitigated
Impact Statement: Between 02:34 UTC and 07:25 UTC on 16 June 2023, we identified a networking issue in West Europe region. Networking traffic to and from West Europe may have been affected and resources hosted in this region may have experienced availability failures, low throughput, or increased latencies. Preliminary Root Cause: We identified that network automation systems incorrectly determined that network links in West Europe region were not working properly and shut down the links. Regions are built with extensive redundancy, however enough links were taken out of service to cause congestion and impact to customer traffic. Mitigation: Engineers placed the links back into service and ensured that the network automation would not remove them again. The network recovered after the links were restored, and other services dependent on the network recovered shortly thereafter. Next Steps: We will continue to investigate to establish the full root cause and prevent future occurrence...

Azure Storage - West Europe - Applying Mitigation
Impact Statement: Starting at approximately 08:00 UTC on 06 March 2023, a subset of customers with storage resources hosted in West Europe may experience issues accessing these resources. Azure KeyVault and other Azure services dependent on Azure Storage may experience intermittent failures and degraded performance due to this issue.Current Status: We have identified that a small number of scale units in the West Europe region are not processing all incoming requests successfully, which in-turn is causing latency or timeouts for some customers. We have applied configuration changes to bring the service back to a healthy state, and we are currently monitoring our telemetry to ensure full-service functionality is restored. Some customers may already be experiencing signs of recovery as part of our mitigation processes.Further updates will be provided in 60 minutes, or as events warrant.

Azure Networking - Multiple regions - Validating Recovery
Between 07:05 UTC and 09:45 UTC on 25 January 2023, customers may have experienced issues with networking connectivity, manifesting as network latency and/or timeouts when attempting to connect to Azure resources in Public Azure regions, as well as other Microsoft services including M365, PowerBI.We've determined the network connectivity issue was occurring with devices across the Microsoft Wide Area Network (WAN). This impacted connectivity between clients on the internet to Azure, as well as connectivity between services in datacenters, as well as ExpressRoute connections. Current Status:We have identified a recent change to WAN as the underlying cause, and have taken steps to roll back this change. Our telemetry shows consistent signs of recovery from 09:45 UTC onwards across multiple regions and services. Most customers should now see full recovery as WAN networking has recovered fully. We are working to monitor and ensure full recovery for services that were impacted. The next u...

Azure Synapse Analytics - West Europe - Investigating
Impact Statement: Starting at 05:30 UTC on 23 Jan 2022, a number of Azure Synapse Analytics customers with resources in West Europe may be experiencing connectivity issues when trying to access their workspaces. Current Status: We are aware of this issue and are currently investigating to understand the underlying cause and work on a mitigation strategy. Further updates will be provided in 60 minutes, or as events warrant.
