Announcement : Please note, there is change in Instana Agent helm chart update procedure.

Instana Agent Helm chart got released in version 2.0.1 and the way to update did change!
When running the upgrade, ensure to run:

• helm pull --repo https://agents.instana.io/helm --untar instana-agent && kubectl apply -f instana-agent/crds; helm upgrade --namespace instana-agent instana-agent \
  --repo https://agents.instana.io/helm instana-agent \
  --reuse-values

Under the hood, the new Helm chart will install Instana Agent Operator, which is now in full control of k8s-sensors and Agents in the cluster.
Main difference is the kubectl apply -f instana-agent/crds, which will apply the CustomResourceDefinition for Agent & k8s-sensor first before the Operator takes over control.

Troubleshooting:
If you encounter an error during upgrade regarding a missing API, like "no matches for kind "InstanaAgent" in version "instana.io/v1"", then you are running the 1.x upgrade command. It will not affect monitoring, but needs the above command to upgrade to the latest 2.0.x Helm chart.
If issues arise with the new version, please open a support case and include the logs. Meanwhile, you can revert to the previous version by specifying the --version 1.2.74 flag to the helm installation command, e.g.
