Microsoft 365 Authentication Issues

After monitoring the situation, Information Technology Services (ITS) has confirmed the stability of Microsoft 365 services. The system should continue operating normally.

We are pleased to announce that the backlog of authentication requests to Microsoft 365 services has been successfully cleared. The incident is now being moved into monitoring status. We have not observed any additional authentication requests since 2:07 PM.

We continue to experience repetitive authentication requests for Microsoft 365 services. This issue has been traced back to a backlog of requests initiated by a policy in Microsoft Defender that is designed to block logins under certain circumstances. It’s believed that a Microsoft update caused this issue due to the way the policy functions. The Microsoft team is actively working to clear the backlog and restore normal operations as swiftly as possible.

In parallel, we are conducting a thorough review of the implicated policy to prevent similar occurrences in the future. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the matter.
