ChromeOS 130 Issue

We have received reports of 'lesson loading timeouts' impacting Chromebooks that have recently upgraded to version 130. Our technical team is investigating this issue. Some districts have found that switching to Chrome's LTS (Long-Term Support) channel helps mitigate the problem. Further updates will be provided as we gather more information.

We have identified that this issue may be related to specific Chromebook models equipped with older Mediatek CPUs. Our team has reported the problem to the Chrome development team and is closely collaborating on a resolution. You can view the bug report via the link below:

While we continue to investigate, switching to Chrome’s LTS (Long-Term Support) channel has been confirmed as an effective workaround for this issue. We appreciate your patience and will provide updates as we learn more.

Our initial findings suggest that this issue is now resolved in ChromeOS version 130.0.6723.126. This update was made available by Google to a small % of Chromebooks yesterday and will continue to roll out to more devices throughout this week. We recommend educators to work with their respective IT Services team(s) to update their ChromeOS to this version when it becomes available.

Note: We have observed that this issue continues to happen in "Guest Mode". We have relayed this to Google for further investigation.
