On Thursday, April 6th, a number of our QuickBooks Online customers experienced a major interruption in service trying to email invoices. Our engineers have identified and since resolved the problem. We apologize for the interruption in service and thank you for your patience as we worked to fix it.
We have implemented changes to remedy this and we have observed that invoices are being emailed out of QuickBooks successfully. This includes all our QuickBooks products: QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Online Accountant, QuickBooks Self-Employed, and QuickBooks Desktop.
We are continuing to monitor this to ensure that invoices are being sent from QuickBooks successfully.
We are continuing to work on a fix for this issue and we are starting to see some users are able to send invoices successfully out of QuickBooks.
If you are using QuickBooks Desktop, as a work around, you can change your preference to use either MS Outlook or Webmail to send your invoices by following the steps in this article.
If you are using QuickBooks Online, as a work around, you can download the invoices as a PDF and attach it to an email outside of QuickBooks Online by following the steps in this article.
Please note, if you opt for this workaround, you will need to manually apply the payment to the invoice once you receive it from your customer.
We understand that these workarounds are not ideal and appreciate your patience as we continue to investigate this issue.
