Outage in Circle
MW wallet paymaster temporarily unavailable
Resolved MajorIncident Report
Summary AI Generated
Circle's Modular Wallets service experienced a 34.9-hour incident where functionality was fully paused across all production networks (Arbitrum, Polygon PoS, Ethereum, Unichain, Base, Optimism, Avalanche, Arc, and Monad) and their test networks. The root cause was an outage of Circle's paymaster service, which sponsors gas fees for transactions; while Modular Wallets were restored partway through, the paymaster remained down, requiring customers to configure third-party paymasters as a workaround. Circle's paymaster was fully restored on October 10, 2026, with gas fee sponsorship resuming normally across all affected chains.
Modular Wallets functionality is temporarily paused across all networks configured for the production service: Arbitrum, Polygon PoS, Ethereum, Unichain, Base, Optimism, Avalanche, Arc, and Monad, including their configured test networks. We are investigating the issue and will provide updates as they become available.
