What:
McAfee service fails to start as expected on ESA devices running 14.x and 15.x.

Impact:
Email processing is delayed or halted.

Symptoms:
McAfee-related errors are observed in the mail logs.

Workaround/Solution:

  • Resolution: Upgrade AsyncOS to version 16.0.3
  • Temporary Workaround: Revert the DAT file via the GUI:
    • Navigate to Security Services > Services Overview.
    • Click Change next to McAfee.
    • Select a DAT file dated October 18th or earlier.
