We've isolated the problem as being caused by a third-party who experienced elevated load, causing a small number of our requests to take longer than usual and time out. More appropriate request timeouts will be investigated and implemented to reduce the impact issues of this nature have in the future.
We apologize for any inconvenience and are monitoring this.
