HCP Terraform workspace runs began failing with IAM errors following the release of AWS provider v6.57.0, affecting teams using the updated provider. HashiCorp's engineering team identified the root cause, pulled v6.57.0 from the registry, and worked to publish a patched v6.57.1, with a workaround available by pinning the AWS provider to v6.56.0. The incident lasted approximately 8 hours before the faulty provider version was removed and a fix was in progress.
