Azure Rights Management (ARM) experienced an outage lasting approximately 5.4 hours on October 12, 2026, beginning at 7:00 AM UTC, caused by unhealthy service components responsible for processing ARM requests. The incident prevented some users from encrypting, decrypting, or opening protected files and emails across Microsoft 365 services, including Microsoft Purview, SharePoint Online, Power BI, and Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. Microsoft resolved the issue by redirecting traffic away from the affected infrastructure, after which service recovery was observed across all affected regions.
