A Google Cloud availability zone failure beginning at 06:01 UTC on October 20, 2026 disrupted Snowflake Data Warehouse and Snowpipe for nearly 9 hours, preventing affected customers from connecting to Snowflake Postgres, managing data, loading data, and running applications. Snowflake mitigated service impact by 06:40 UTC by automatically shifting workloads away from the affected zone, though the underlying infrastructure issue required Google Cloud to restore the availability zone. The incident was fully resolved by 14:03 UTC once Google Cloud confirmed the zone was largely restored and Snowflake reverted its precautionary changes.
