Intermittent loss of mobile data on some SIMs after a period of inactivity

We are aware that some SIMs can stop passing data after a period of inactivity, even though the device still shows full signal and a mobile connection. When this happens, data does not resume on its own. Workaround: the connection is restored as soon as the device re-registers with the network. • On phones, tablets and other devices with a user interface, toggling Airplane Mode off and on does this immediately. • On IoT and embedded devices without that option, power-cycling the device or restarting the modem has the same effect. Devices that send or receive data regularly are much less likely to be affected. We have identified the area responsible and are working with our vendor on a fix.
