Weave experienced connectivity issues with Open Dental software that required users to update their practice management system and enable API services. The incident affected the integration between Weave and Open Dental, requiring users to upgrade to Open Dental Version 24.1 or higher and enable eServices & API functionality. The issue was resolved after 104.5 hours by implementing backend connection updates that utilized Open Dental's new API infrastructure.

To ensure a stable and high-performance connection between Weave and your practice management software, please follow these steps:
1. Update OpenDental
Ensure your office is running OpenDental Version 24.1 or higher.
This version includes the latest API infrastructure required for advanced third-party integrations.
Check your version in OpenDental via Help > About.
If you are on an older version, go to Help > Update > Check for Updates.
2. Enable eServices & API
The connection requires the OpenDental eConnector to be active. This acts as a secure bridge for data.
Navigate to Setup > Advanced Setup > API.
Ensure the Enabled checkbox is selected.
Verify that your eConnector service is installed and running (typically on your main server if you have OpenDental running locally).
3. Weave Connection Update
Once your OpenDental is updated and the API is enabled:
Weave will automatically update your connection to utilize the new API.
Note: This is a backend change to how Weave "talks" to your database; you will not see any changes to your OpenDental interface or daily workflow.
