Outage Details

We've identified an issue with Google’s downloadable report for May, which is over-reporting app downloads, updates, etc., impacting most developers. The inflated numbers only impact reports for free apps; reports for paid apps, including revenue, are reported as usual. Google's developer dashboard is reporting without the inflated numbers, only the exportable report is impacted. Google has been made aware of the discrepancy, and once May reports are regenerated, we'll re-import the corrected numbers report for everyone.

We can confirm Google downloads, for May and June, are reporting accurately again after we introduced our workaround earlier in the week.

The workaround: downloads are being calculated from Google's reports without re-downloads.

We're still waiting for Google to resolve this on their end. In the meantime, we'll continue to calculate downloads for reporting.

There is nothing anyone needs to do; we're handling this all automatically on our end.

The latest on inflated downloads from Google:

After exploring the data we believe the inflated numbers are based on Google adding re-downloads into the first-time downloads count.

The good news is we have a temporary workaround where we will calculate downloads from reports, without re-downloads, that's rolling out to all members now.

Google has also confirmed they're still investigating the discrepancy based on the information we've shared. Hopefully, they'll have a positive update to share with us soon.

We're waiting for Google to understand the full extent of the changes to downloads in May and now June as well. Reports still need to be corrected before we can re-import for the two months.

As soon as more information becomes available, we'll share those updates.

The monthly May report is still incorrect as we wait for Google to understand the extent of the problem and correct the reports. We're doing our best to help Google regenerate reports as quickly as possible.

As soon as reports are fixed, we'll re-import for everyone.
