UPDATE 10 months ago - at 02/22/2024 02:51AM

We are actively working on multiple parallel paths to mitigate this issue. Currently, we’re focused on mitigating the issue resulting in propagation delays, which we believe will also lead to an improvement in the overall error rates. We are hopeful that this mitigation will significantly improve the issue, and allow us to shift our efforts toward full resolution, and then fully understanding root cause and preventing recurrence. During this issue, customers may also be unable to load portions of the IAM Management Console, or may receive a message when attempting to navigate to the IAM Management Console homepage that says “IAM service page is currently unavailable”. We will continue to provide additional updates as we have them, or within the next 60 minutes.

UPDATE 10 months ago - at 02/22/2024 02:20AM

Beginning at 4:57 PM PST, we began experiencing increased error rates for mutating API calls for the AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) Service. We can confirm that the impact is confined to mutating API calls (creation, deletion, or modification of IAM users, credentials, roles and policies). Existing resources are unaffected, but changes are not propagating at this time. Other AWS Services that create, delete, or modify IAM resources are experiencing errors due to this issue. At 5:03 PM, senior engineers were automatically engaged and immediately began working to understand the root cause. We are currently working on multiple parallel paths to mitigate the issue, and will provide an update within the next 60 minutes or sooner if we have additional information to share.
