UPDATE 8 months ago - at 04/24/2024 07:47PM

We are seeing broad signs of recovery for the increased API error rates and failures for new instance launches in a single Availability Zone (usgw1-az1) in the US-GOV-WEST-1 Region. Customers may still see some API error rates while our mitigation efforts complete, however, retries would likely succeed. We will provide you with another update by 1:30 PM PDT.

UPDATE 8 months ago - at 04/24/2024 07:08PM

We have a high degree of confidence that our current mitigation efforts will be successful, however it will take a short time to complete. As the mitigation proceeds, we expect to see incremental recovery until we are fully recovered. We will provide you with a further update by 12:45 PM PDT.

The issue is also affecting services that depend on EC2 such as EKS, ECS and Workspaces. Instances that are already launched continue to operate normally.

EKS Managed Node Group create and update operations are failing intermittently. Customers can create a new Managed Node Group by specifying subnets in the unaffected Availability Zones.

UPDATE 8 months ago - at 04/24/2024 06:09PM

We continue to experience elevated API error rates in a single Availability Zone (usgw1-az1) in the US-GOV-WEST-1 Region. We are working on multiple parallel paths to mitigate the issue. Instances currently running remain unaffected, however, API calls to create, modify or terminate the instances in the affected Availability Zone are not working. APIs calls directed to launch instances targeting the non-impacted Availability Zones are working. While we do not have an estimate for recovery at this time, we are tracking the progress and will provide you with another update by 11:45 AM PDT.
