A global AWS CloudFront outage caused Canvas LMS, Canvas Catalog, Mastery Connect, and Portfolio to become inaccessible across all regions for approximately 4 hours. Users widely reported 504 Gateway Timeout errors across browsers, mobile apps, and institutions, preventing access to course materials, homework, and exams at a particularly impactful time for many. Services were restored region by region, with a full fix deployed and confirmed resolved after roughly 4 hours.
