Incident Report

We are currently experiencing an issue where smishing (SMS phishing) reporting is not functioning as expected for users on devices running iOS 26. This is due to a significant redesign of the iOS SMS app by Apple in iOS 26, which has unfortunately removed the option to report phishing SMS from the messaging application. Our team is actively in contact with Apple regarding this matter and working to restore full functionality for smishing reporting on iOS 26. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We have investigated the issue where smishing (SMS phishing) reporting was not functioning on devices running iOS 26. After working closely with Apple, we’ve learned that this behavior is due to a change in iOS: Apple has removed support for third-party reporting extensions, which our Hoxhunt SMS reporting feature relies on.

Apple has acknowledged this change but has not provided a timeline for restoring this functionality. Unfortunately, this means smishing reporting will remain unavailable on iOS 26 until Apple reintroduces support.

We understand this may impact your security workflows and recommend continuing to report suspicious SMS messages through alternative channels provided by your organization. We will keep monitoring the situation and update you if Apple makes changes that allow us to restore this feature.
Thank you for your understanding.
