Incident Report

On May 31st 2025 at approximately 2:04pm EST, our platform experienced a brief service disruption affecting real-time driver route updates. An unexpected spike in inbound data traffic temporarily exceeded the capacity of one of our background processing systems, causing delays in delivering updated routing instructions to drivers. While the system remained stable overall, this bottleneck prevented some drivers from receiving updated routes, resulting in confusion and, in some cases, undelivered packages being returned. The underlying issue was identified and resolved within approximately ten minutes. However, some drivers were left without updated route information. Over the following hours, our engineering team worked to identify impacted drivers and restore their routing data. By approximately 5:00pm EST, all active driver routes had been fully restored. To reduce the likelihood of similar disruptions in the future, we have implemented the following measures: - Scaled system components to better handle sudden spikes in data traffic. - Tuned alert thresholds for earlier detection of similar delays. - Added safeguards to prevent isolated service dependencies from impacting delivery workflows. We apologize for any disruption this may have caused. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at techops@roadie.com.
