We have released a fix for the disruption causing some iOS devices in version 18.4 to crash, and we are monitoring the progress. As mentioned previously, we recommend Sellers manually update their Square apps to 6.66.1 before updating their device to iOS 18.4. We will continue providing updates here as they become available. After further investigation, our team has found that previous versions of Square Apps are incompatible with some iOS devices running version 18.4, causing the app to close abruptly. At this time, we recommend that Sellers with iOS devices manually update their Square apps to version 6.66.1 by visiting the App Store before updating your device to 18.4. We appreciate your continued patience while we continue to address this further.

Some Square Sellers have reported that their apps are crashing immediately upon opening after updating to iOS 18.4. To avoid disruptions while we investigate, we recommend that Sellers with iOS devices temporarily disable auto-updates. You can do this by going to Settings > General > Software Update and turning off Automatic Updates. We appreciate your continued patience while we continue to investigate further.

Some Square Sellers have reported that their apps are crashing immediately upon opening after updating to iOS 18.4. While this issue seems to be primarily affecting iPad users, iPhone users may also be impacted.

To avoid disruptions while we investigate, we recommend that Sellers with iOS devices temporarily disable auto-updates. You can do this by going to Settings > General > Software Update and turning off Automatic Updates.
