Outage Details
We received multiple reports of users in mainland China being unable to connect to PingOne services. After investigation, it was confirmed that the IP address serving https://sso.connect.pingidentity.com in North America was being blocked by the Great Firewall of China (GFW) and this was not due to an issue with AWS or Ping infrastructure. The GFW's role is to block access to certain websites from mainland China.
Customers were provided with alternative methods of accessing services in North America by routing traffic through corporate VPNs. Since some customers were not able to make this change for their workforce and customers, the Site Reliability Engineering team was able to route traffic from Asia to another AWS region that was not blocked.
