Threat Intelligence Alert: CVE-2023-23397 - Microsoft Outlook Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability

Summary Microsoft has discovered limited, targeted abuse of a Microsoft Outlook vulnerability that allows for NTLM credential theft. The vulnerability can be exploited by sending a malicious email to a vulnerable version of Outlook, and Microsoft note that the exploitation can occur even before the message is viewed in the Preview Pane; so no user interaction is required. Network interruption Newcastle Central

Pulsant engineers were made aware of an incident in a network segment in Newcastle Central which has affected a small number of clients, a network switch failed and has been replaced restoring service. Traffic levels have been monitored and engineers are confident traffic patterns are comparable to before.
