We are currently experiencing a disruption that is causing payments started in the Square Point of Sale iOS application and completed using Square Terminal to not settle effectively. We understand how important it is for your business for all of our services to be up and running, and our Engineering team is actively working on a fix. Our engineers have released a fix for the disruption that impacted a small subset of Square sellers who are using the beta version of Square Terminal. The fix for this disruption is in the newest update of the Square Terminal, which you can manually trigger at your earliest convenience or the update will happen in the overnight update.

Our engineers continue to work on a fix for the issue where a small subset Square sellers who are using the beta version of Square Terminal while connected to an external Point of Sale device (E.g. an iPad, iPhone or Android device running Square Point of Sale) are seeing some card payments not properly being captured. Please note that If you are not using the beta version of Square Terminal, this issue will not impact you.

Sellers are able to check whether they have any uncaptured payments, and then capture or cancel these payments, via the Transaction Status report on Square Dashboard at https://squareup.com/dashboard/sales/reports/transaction-status .

Additionally, sellers seeing this issue can prevent it from occurring by performing a factory reset on their Square Terminal. Doing so will install the previous version of the Square Terminal software, where the issue is not present.

If you have taken any offline transactions, be sure to reconnect to the internet and process them before proceeding with a factory reset. Pending offline payments will be permanently lost and the funds won’t be captured when you reset your device.

To reset your Square Terminal:

- Tap ≡ More.

- Select Settings > Hardware.

- Tap General > About Terminal.

- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Factory Reset > Confirm Factory Reset.

- Tap Reset one last time. From here the countdown will begin and your Terminal will reset.

At this time, our engineers have confirmed that impacted Sellers can perform a factory reset on their Square Terminal. Doing so will install the previous version of the Square Terminal and will address this disruption on their end.

To reset your Square Terminal:
