Airbnb experienced an issue with webhooks and the Messages GET API that prevented partners from receiving webhook notifications for first messages in new booking threads and retrieving those messages via the API endpoint. The problem affected partners between February 24, 2026 5:26 PM PST and February 25, 2026 7:25 PM PST. Airbnb identified the root cause, deployed a mitigation, backfilled the impacted data, and fully restored message retrieval functionality by March 11, 2026.
This incident has been resolved.
You may now retrieve the messages via the GET /v2/threads/{thread_id}/messages endpoint.
