Incident Report

Summary AI Generated

Azure DevOps Managed DevOps Pools stopped acquiring VMs for 9.8 hours, causing pipeline failures across multiple regions including the US, Canada, Europe, and Asia Pacific. The issue specifically affected pools using Ubuntu images with custom networking, initially triggered by a Canonical outage that impacted customers with network allowlisting configurations. Microsoft resolved the incident by advising affected customers to allowlist access to azure.archive.ubuntu.com and switch from subnet delegation to isolated VNets as a temporary workaround.

Our engineers are currently investigating an event impacting Managed DevOps Pools. The pools have stopped acquiring VMs, which will lead to pipeline failures. We will post an update as soon as we learn more.

UPDATE

We are still investigating the issue affecting Managed DevOps Pools.

We have identified that the impacted pools are using Ubuntu images and custom networking. Canonical had an outage earlier today: [Canonical and Ubuntu Status](https://status.canonical.com/#/incident/KNms6QK9ewuzz-7xUsPsNylV20jEt5kyKsd8A-3ptQFXDY1cADQIOsYL8QMfXd6nxPodqimvpO7d_cT5fCy5_w%3D%3D) which seems to impact some customers that are bringing their own network and are only allowlisting certain endpoints, blocking everything else. If you are impacted, please make sure that you allowlist access to **azure.archive.ubuntu.com** and that no other Ubuntu endpoints are getting blocked.

UPDATE

We have identified that this issue is only impacting a handful of customers using inject agents into own network. We are working on identifying the root cause for those.

**Customer Mitigation Guidance:** Customers are advised to switch from subnet delegation to isolated VNets as a temporary workaround.
