Summary AI Generated

A fiber cut between Opti9's GSC/New York data center and its WAN edge caused a major network outage lasting approximately 96 hours, broadly impacting compute, storage, networking, internet services, and all hosted Veeam and Zerto cloud services in the region. Engineers mitigated partial impact by rerouting traffic through alternate paths, though complications with upstream carrier routing to Google and Facebook/Meta services delayed full restoration. Once the damaged fiber was repaired by the upstream provider, Opti9 re-enabled the repaired path on September 4, fully restoring all services, with a root cause analysis to follow.

Our teams are currently investigating a network issue impacting multiple services in this region. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team.

RESOLVED 12 days ago - at 09/04/2026 07:49PM

At this time service has been fully restored. Please ensure connectivity and services are operating as expected, and let us know immediately if any issues remain. Our engineering teams are working alongside our upstream providers to prepare a detailed root cause analysis (RCA). Once a full RCA is available, this incident will be updated with additional detail.

IDENTIFIED 12 days ago - at 09/04/2026 02:50PM

Opti9 has been notified that our upstream provider has completed repairs to the damaged fiber.

To restore full network redundancy and return affected services to their normal operating state, Opti9 will be re-enabling the repaired connectivity path at 11:00AM Eastern Time. During this activity, traffic will be rebalanced across our available network connections.

Clients may experience a brief period of increased latency or packet reconvergence lasting only a few seconds while routing protocols adjust and traffic is redistributed. No prolonged service interruption is expected.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this work to restore full redundancy and ensure the continued resilience of our network infrastructure.

Our network engineering team corrected a peering issue with several providers, including Facebook/Meta.
We continue to track repair operations impacting full redundancy and performance.

We will provide another update as soon as additional information becomes available or service has been restored.

Our network engineering team has rerouted connectivity to Google services successfully, at this time connectivity to Google should be restored for all clients.

We are still engaged with upstream providers to restore full redundancy and connectivity for all clients. Fiber engineers and construction crews are currently working to repair the impacted fiber.

We will provide another update as soon as additional information becomes available or service has been restored.

Our network engineering team continues to actively work with our upstream service providers to resolve the ongoing network issue affecting service availability.

As part of our mitigation efforts, we attempted to reroute traffic through alternate network paths. While Opti9 systems successfully transitioned to the alternate route, an issue with one of the alternate provider's upstream carriers routing specifically to Google services has prevented full service restoration.

We remain engaged with all impacted providers and are actively escalating the issue to obtain updates and drive resolution as quickly as possible. We understand the impact this disruption may have on your operations and appreciate your patience while work continues.

We will provide another update as soon as additional information becomes available or service has been restored.

IDENTIFIED 16 days ago - at 08/31/2026 10:28PM

The incident has been traced to a fiber outage impacting connectivity between our data center and WAN edge.

A technician from our service provider is currently onsite investigating the issue. While we do not yet have an estimated time for resolution, our teams are engaged and monitoring progress closely.

To mitigate the impact, our network and routing teams are actively implementing alternate routing paths for affected traffic while repair efforts are underway.

IDENTIFIED 16 days ago - at 08/31/2026 08:32PM

Our teams have identified the potential cause of the connectivity issue and are working to diagnose. A subset of traffic has been rerouted, which has restored connectivity to a subset of services.
