A downstream dependency issue caused Retool's React App Builder sandbox to fail when installing dependencies, affecting newly created React apps, new publishes, and cold sandbox starts on versions 4.0.0+ across both Cloud and Self-Hosted instances. The incident lasted approximately 6 hours, with Cloud resolved first, followed by Self-Hosted via patched images (4.0.12-stable, 4.43.0-edge); unpatched Self-Hosted deployments were set to self-resolve by August 24th due to a 5-day minimum dependency release age policy. Existing published apps that had not been republished after August 19th were unaffected.
