From 4:32 PM to 6:15 PM CEST, we experienced a significant amount of 504 errors in the EU region due to degraded performance on our application servers. The root cause of this outage was a load increase on an underlying REST API application component which affected the overall system performance. Our 24/7 DevOps team immediately started to to analyze and identify the issue and after escalating the Engineering team, the hotfix was released in two steps. The engineering team started to work on preventive measurement to avoid similar issues in the future. We understand this service issue has impacted many of our customers and we apologize for the inconvenience caused.
