Unity Outage History

Unity Build Automation experienced a service disruption that prevented the system from functioning correctly. The issue was classified as minor and affected users' ability to use the build automation service. The problem was resolved after approximately 1.9 hours of investigation.

Unity experienced delays in processing new DevOps subscription purchases and activations due to a system upgrade that was updating over 1 million existing accounts to provide higher free tier limits. Customers faced delays of up to 120 minutes before new DevOps plan purchases were reflected in their dashboards. The incident lasted 49.2 hours, with all purchase requests being queued and processed automatically without data loss.

Unity's Pipeline Automation service experienced a major authentication system failure that prevented users from accessing the service. The root cause was identified and a fix was deployed to resolve the issue. The incident lasted 1.3 hours before service was restored.

Unity's Analytics SQL Data Explorer and some other Analytics Dashboard tools became unavailable due to a reporting issue, while data ingestion and storage continued to function normally. The outage lasted approximately 19 days, with users able to use alternative tools like Snowflake Data Access, built-in Analytics Dashboards, Data Explorer, and Funnels tool as workarounds. The SQL Data Explorer was restored on March 6th and monitored for 24 hours before the incident was resolved.
