Title: Users may be unable to access various Microsoft 365 services

User impact: Users may be unable to access various Microsoft 365 services.

More info: Specifically, users attempting to access Microsoft 365 services that leverage SQL Database may be impacted. New connections to these databases may result in an error or timeout. Existing connections remain available to accept new requests; however, if those connections are terminated and then re-established, they may experience errors.

Impacted services include but are not limited to:
- SharePoint Online
- OneDrive for Business
- Microsoft Intune

Current status: We're continuing to progress with our efforts to reroute traffic to healthy infrastructure and we're seeing positive improvements to the service. Our telemetry indicates that the service has returned to expected performance thresholds for the majority of users, and we're working to address any residual impact that may be experienced by users.

Scope of impact: Users located in the Eastern United States may experience issues attempting to access various Microsoft 365 services. Users outside of this region should not be experiencing impact.

Start time: Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 11:03 PM UTC

Preliminary root cause: A subset of infrastructure is operating below optimal thresholds, resulting in users being unable to access some Microsoft 365 services.
