Title: Some users' Microsoft 365 service apps for Mac may be shutting down unexpectedly and reinstalled by Microsoft Intune

User impact: Users' Microsoft 365 service apps for Mac may be shutting down unexpectedly and reinstalled by Microsoft Intune.

More info: This issue affects the following Microsoft 365 desktop apps for Mac: AutoUpdate, Defender, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams. Users that have access to the corresponding mobile or web apps can use these to bypass the problem while we address this impact.

Current status: We’re continuing to monitor the ongoing deployment to ensure it completes to resolve this issue as expected by our next update.

Scope of impact: Any user attempting to utilize any Microsoft 365 service desktop app for Mac may be affected by this event.

Root cause: A recent configuration change is causing some users' Microsoft 365 service desktop apps for Mac to shut down and reinstall.

More info: This issue affects the following Microsoft 365 desktop apps for Mac: AutoUpdate, Defender, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams. Users that have access to the corresponding mobile or web apps can use these to bypass the problem while we address this impact.

Current status: Our configuration fix has been validated and we've determined that it will be deployed by Friday, July 12, 2024, at 11:59 PM UTC. We're monitoring this deployment and will update as the process continues.

Scope of impact: Any user attempting to utilize any Microsoft 365 service desktop app for Mac may be affected by this event.

Root cause: A recent configuration change is causing some users' Microsoft 365 service desktop apps for Mac to shut down and reinstall.

Current status: We've begun deployment of a configuration change to our test environments so that we can validate whether it remediates the impact before it is rolled out. We expect this to be completed by the time of our next update, after which we can determine a timeline for the roll out.
