This incident has been resolved.

Error rates have returned to normal and we are no longer seeing failed requests. The intermittent errors earlier today were caused by an upstream Google Cloud networking incident affecting the region our services run in — not an issue with our application. Google has acknowledged the incident on their status dashboard: https://status.cloud.google.com/ — Our systems have recovered and we're continuing to monitor until Google marks the incident fully resolved. We're investigating intermittent errors affecting the homepage and checkout for some visitors. Early signs point to an upstream Google Cloud networking incident in one of our data-center zones, which can cause requests to fail intermittently. Most requests are succeeding, and retrying typically works. We're monitoring closely and will post an update shortly.
