Proton experienced a 6.3-hour major service disruption caused by residual hardware failures linked to a prior overheating incident, resulting in reduced infrastructure capacity. The outage affected virtually all Proton services, including Mail, VPN, mobile apps, web applications, Bridge, and servers across all tiers. Database capacity was restored, traffic limitations were lifted, queued emails were progressively delivered with no data loss, and the incident was fully resolved by 20:49 local time.
