Cybersource experienced an issue with their Payer Authentication Service that caused enrollment errors for some clients and also impacted other services including Flex, Rest API, SCMP, Secure Acceptance, and Webhooks, with some services returning ESYSTEM or ETIMEOUT errors. The primary Payer Authentication issue was mitigated within approximately 12 minutes on March 18, 2026, though the incident remained under monitoring until full resolution on March 20, 2026. Cybersource conducted an internal review to prevent future occurrences.
The issue affecting multiple services has now been fully resolved. Cybersource is conducting an internal review of the events to mitigate future occurrences.

We are continuing to monitor for any further issues.
While this incident is mitigated, there was additional impact not only to Payer Authentication, but other services called by merchants. Other services may have intermittently returned a 150 or 151 error indicating an ESYSTEM or ETIMEOUT error.
Teams are still investigating and gathering impact.
Impact: Some clients may have received an error during Payer Authentication enrollment. As a side effect to this issue a low number of other services called during this timeframe may have received errors as well.
