Network Component Issue (Equinix Internet Access / Equinix Connect, Metro Connect)

On November 21st, there was an outage on the Dark Fiber links connecting the South and North routes. The outage occurred at 20:47 UTC for the South route and at 22:38 UTC for the North route. The affected locations were ILA and IL2. Metro Connect and Equinix Fabric Metro Remote were the affected customers, experiencing a loss of service. The issue was resolved by the dark fiber provider rectifying a high attenuation and fiber cut fault. Service was restored at 00:40 UTC and 06:09 UTC on November 22nd. Since then, the link has remained stable.

Equinix SMC confirmed with dark fiber provider that both dark fiber links has been restored as of 22-November at 00:40hrs UTC. We are monitoring the stability of the dark fiber links.

Multiple devices in ILA Metro is unreachable and that has caused isolation of ILA metro causing service disruption. Equinix Engineers are currently investigating the issue.
