No further disturabnces are expected, however the splicing works are still ongoing.

The new splice on 34th & 8th has 10 ribbons spliced. The new SEP located to the South is still prepping the new SEP. On that side, we have to wait for room to be made for contractors splice lab between other contractors trucks. Lot of “traffic” out there due to 4-5 carriers being impacted at the same damage location.

At this time the team has identified the fibers at 60 Hudson and have starting splicing at 34th st.

The most recent update from the provider's repair team as below.
Our splice team has begun prepping one end of the cable for splicing. The high number of other carriers involved is slowing our work, as other carriers are pulling their cable into place. We are awaiting access to the other end of the cable to begin splicing at that end. In the meantime, we are awaiting access to 60-Hudson to perform additional fault testing to confirm there is no additional damage. Due to the congestion of work crews and limited accessible space, we have no ETR at this time.

The cable is in place in the conduit, and our splice team has begun prepping one end of the cable for splicing. The high numbers of carriers involved is slowing our work, as other carriers are pulling their cable into place. We are awaiting access to the other end of the cable to begin splicing at that end. Due to the congestion of work crews and limited accessible space, we have no ETR at this time.

The most recent update from the provider's repair team as below.
The construction from ECS arrived on-site in Manhattan (NYC) and lifted two steel plates. Upon inspection, it was determined that there had been either a fire or steam beneath the plates, which caused the ECS conduits and cabling to melt and burn. ECS was alerted to send a rod and rope crew to assist in clearing a path for the carriers on-site. The rod and rope crew is en route. We will advise once we have additional details.

Equinix Service Management Center is still awaiting the next significant update from the dark fiber provider. The most recent update from them confirms that they are looking into the damage caused by third-party construction. Their crew needs Empire City Subway to remove the steel plates covering the conduits in order to access the damaged area. Additionally, they have confirmed that there are no alternative ducts available to relocate the dark fibers. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.
