May 2026: We are currently investigating reports of intermittent failures within the DocViewer conversion engine
Canvas Instructure experienced intermittent failures in the DocViewer conversion engine affecting Canvas LMS across multiple regions (eu-central-1, eu-west-1, ap-southeast-1) for 50 minutes. Users reported widespread 500 Internal Server Errors that prevented access to Canvas, with some students experiencing crashes during timed exams and being unable to access course materials during finals period. The issue was resolved after implementing a fix and monitoring the results.
